GAME Ukraine

GAME started distributing humanitarian relief in Kharkiv, Ukraine in 2022 after the escalation of the already ongoing conflict between Ukraine and Russia.

Through an eminent partnership with the Ukrainian organization and main partner “Street Culture”, the activities have from the outset been using the convening power of sports and street cultures to build hope. The current project aims to unite the expertise of GAME, Street Culture, Urban Reform, as well as Danish architects to create vibrant physical spaces that foster alternative education, sports, arts, and cultural activities.

By activating physical spaces and implementing the Playmaker Program, the project is transforming a current IDP shelter developed under the first partnership into an “Urban Camp Education Hub” – a center for training and skills development.

Psychosocial Well-being

The Ukrainian youths are currently dealing with a loss of social interaction, isolation, lack of physical activity, and the stress of war. Based on this reality the project has a specific component supporting the psychosocial well-being of Ukrainian children and youth.

Looking toward the future, the partners hope to develop more Urban Hubs for youth-focused education, street sports, and community activities with the hope of fostering a thriving street culture and active youth citizenship in Ukraine. And closer ties between Ukraine and Denmark.
