Internship at GAME Working with Safety & Security

ABOUT GAME
GAME is looking for an intern who can support our organization’s Safety & Security policies and implementation – both in Denmark and with our overseas programming.

GAME is a non-profit street sport organization that since 2002 has worked to create lasting social change by establishing innovative facilities and educating young people as leaders and role models in street sports. At GAME Headquarters in Copenhagen we work closely with schools, institutions and municipalities around the country to help make street sport as accessible to as many young people as possible. We organize sport events with schools and arrange larger “street days” publicly in order to introduce sports such as parkour, street basketball and street dance.

Though GAME started internationally with the establishment of GAME Lebanon in 2007, 2018 has been a year of great growth and expansion. By year’s end, GAME expects to have increased its presence to at least seven more countries.

As our Safety and Security intern, you will get the opportunity to bring a lot of theoretical concepts to life in the areas of: Overall Safety and Security, Crisis Management, Risk Assessment and Risk Management. You will work primarily with the Knowledge Manager and the head of Communications. In addition, you will have the opportunity to interact with the managers of all of GAME’s indoor facilities, different programs in Denmark, and country programs and partners in several different countries in Europe, the Middle East and Africa as they keep volunteers and participants safe.

Specifically, your tasks will include:

  • Identifying and creating supporting documentation that will enable GAME’s full policies to thrive (ex: SOPs, activity logs, etc)
  • Liaising with GAME staff and partners in order to develop country, program, and locality guidelines and policies
  • Researching security networks and institutions, and making recommendations on GAME’s participation in / with them
  • Reviewing GAME’s platforms and help ensure that safety information is always accurate and accessible by all those who need them
  • Making recommendations about education and trainings for GAME staff
  • Developing and running simulations with different staff.

In particular, there will be a large emphasis on this last point – developing and running simulations with different groups of staff.

Though we are flexible as to what the profile of a GAME intern is, we expect that you are:
• Currently undertaking a related education degree,
•Responsible and prepared to contribute to the team,
• Structured and able to work both independently and in a team environment,

  • Able to multitask, but also mono-task when sustained focus is required,
    • Able to get along with a wide variety of people, both in the office and internationally, and
