8/8-2024A Year of Impact: the World Diabetes Foundation Fundraiser Project in Lebanon

A year ago, with the amazing support of the World Diabetes Foundation, GAME embarked on a health focused journey to empower Lebanese and refugee children and youth through sports and physical activity.  Our goal is to help spread awarness about non-communicable diseases (NCDs) by providing free, inclusive, and accessible public spaces for children and youth. The project started in June 2023 and will continue until December 2024.

Reaching New Heights: 1500 Children and Counting

Our GAME Zones have become vibrant hubs of activity, offering children and youth a safe and inclusive space to play, learn, and grow. These public spaces are not just about sports; they are about building strong communities. Through this project, GAME reached 1,500 children, until now, who actively engaged in the street sports program in 5 GAME Zones. These children are not only developing essential physical skills but also cultivating confidence, resilience, and a strong sense of belonging. Beyond the sports field, our programs incorporate holistic health education, teaching children about the importance of nutrition, sleep, and overall well-being.

Stronger Together: Family Engagement

To empower parents and caregivers, GAME organized Family Events in 3 of the 5 GAME Zones where 75 parentsjoined us for the training sessions alongside their children. These events provided valuable insights into children’s health and nutrition, equipping family members with the tools to create healthier environments at home.

Youth as Changemakers: A New Generation of Health Advocates

27 young people have been trained to become health ambassadors, empowering them to spread awareness about NCDs and promote healthy lifestyles within their communities through sports. These young leaders are inspiring role models, demonstrating the power of youth in driving positive change. Some of these youth even came up with their own sports drills and games to be able to transfer health related knowledge through play. #learningthroughplaying

For the first time in Lebanon: Global Diabetes Walk 2024

GAME will be hosting a Global Diabetes Walk event as part of the international campaign for Diabetes prevention in November 2024. Young people from all over the country will gather to take part of the Walk event to spread the word and create more awarness about Diabetes and NCD prevention among children and youth in Lebanon.
